What is Invisalign®?
The Invisalign system uses a series of custom-made, removable aligners to straighten teeth. The aligners — made of smooth, comfortable and practically invisible plastic — gradually shift the teeth into their ideal placement. Aligners are replaced with a new set every two weeks or so during your treatment to advance the straightening process.
Invisalign vs. Traditional Braces
While Invisalign and braces get you to the same destination — a lovely, confident smile — it’s the journey that’s different. The Invisalign system makes the road to straighter teeth smoother by allowing you to:
- Eat whatever foods you want
- Remove the tray for brushing and flossing
- Straighten your teeth virtually invisibly
- Avoid cheek and gum irritation caused by brackets
- Free your schedule with office visits required only every four to six weeks
- Obtain free replacement aligners depending on your case
Schedule a consultation with one of our dentists. During this initial appointment, we evaluate your situation to determine if Invisalign is a good solution for you. If you are a candidate for this system, we update X-rays and take pictures and impressions of your teeth; Invisalign uses these to create a 3-D image of your teeth. A series of custom-made, clear aligners are made just for you. You wear the aligners for 20 to 22 hours each day, removing them for eating, brushing and flossing your teeth. Each set of aligners gradually shifts your teeth closer to your end goal. Every two weeks, you switch out your current aligners for a new set that advances you to the next treatment stage. Treatment typically takes a year for adults; for teens, the treatment length is about the same as that for traditional braces. At the end of your treatment is a stunning new smile! Our dentists may recommend retainers, made with the same Invisalign technology, to maintain your splendid smile.
Propel Your Treatment Time
Our practice offers award-winning PROPEL Orthodontics treatment to shorten treatment time and achieve that beautiful smile quicker. PROPEL uses the body’s own biology to speed up treatment time with the introduction of micro-osteoperforations methodically placed to help advance stubborn teeth and potentially halve your total treatment time. As part of the treatment planning stage, we discuss ways to propel your treatment time and have you smiling sooner than you thought possible.
We are a preferred Invisalign provider. Contact us to discuss whether Invisalign is the right solution for you or your child.
