Present your best self to others with a beautiful, straight smile. Our dentists are experienced and skilled in using traditional braces to straighten teeth, correct bite and alignment problems, and improve oral health. We use the latest orthodontic technology to gradually achieve your perfect smile. Whether you’re a teenager or an adult, braces can be invaluable. Don’t let crooked teeth prevent your smile from brightening the world!
How Do Braces Work?
The main (and most visible) components of braces are the brackets and archwire. Metal or ceramic brackets are attached to each tooth with bonding material. A thin metal wire, called an archwire, runs from bracket to bracket to put pressure on the teeth. This pressure gradually repositions the teeth to where they should be. Once the teeth are positioned correctly, the braces hold them there while bone tissue in the jaw grows to support the teeth in their new positions. After treatment, a retainer helps keep your beautiful new smile in place.
Why Do I Need Braces?
Orthodontia is the right solution for many problems. Braces can fix or improve:
- Physical facial appearance
- Crowded teeth
- Crooked teeth
- Overbite, underbite or crossbite
- Incorrect jaw alignment
- Disorders of the jaw joint
Benefits of Straight Teeth
Most of us think of braces as the optimal solution to attaining a beautiful smile, but orthodontia does so much more than that! Benefits of treatment include:
- Improved self-esteem
- Improved overall oral health
- Improved stability and function of the teeth
- Help in preventing gum disease, tooth decay and tooth loss
Before beginning any orthodontic treatment, a diagnosis is made to determine the type of problems and which procedures best treat the problem. To make these decisions, diagnostic records are required, just like architectural drawings are needed for designing and renovating a house. Diagnostic records typically include radiographs of the head, neck, jaw joints and teeth; photographs; study models; and a complete medical and dental history, including a periodontal exam. Based on the patient’s records, our knowledge of treatment options and clinical experience, we formulate a treatment plan that offers the best prognosis for a rewarding and positive orthodontic treatment result — a confident, amazing smile.
Propel Your Treatment Time
Our practice offers award-winning PROPEL Orthodontics treatment to shorten treatment time and achieve that beautiful smile quicker. PROPEL uses the body’s own biology to speed up treatment time with the introduction of micro-osteoperforations methodically placed to help advance stubborn teeth and potentially halve your total treatment time. As part of the treatment planning stage, we discuss ways to propel your treatment time and have you smiling sooner than you thought possible.
Approximately one month after the diagnostic records are obtained, a final consultation appointment is scheduled with the patient and parents to discuss the findings and proposed treatment plan, specific treatment appliances, the timing and sequencing of treatment phases, and an estimate of treatment costs. Fees, payment schedule and financial arrangements are given to you following the final consultation appointment.
We understand that braces are a major investment in time and money, so feel free to ask questions at any time. We sincerely wish your time with us to be a rewarding and informative experience as we work together to achieve a healthy, pleasing smile for you or your child.
